Jimmie Johnson venceu a etapa de Bristol da Nascar e pouca coisa mudou efetivamente na classificação do campeonato. A briga pelo Chase permanece praticamente igual, com Denny Hamlin aparecendo no corte, em 16º.
 
Pelos critérios dos playoffs da Nascar, Brad Keselowski e Johnson aparecem no topo da tabela. Na pontuação geral, porém, quem lidera é Kyle Larson, seguido de perto por Chase Elliott, que ainda não triunfou e, por isso, corre risco.

A grande ausência no grupo dos 16 que estariam no Chase continua sendo Matt Kenseth, retrato da temporada muito ruim que a Joe Gibbs vem fazendo. Além dele, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Kasey Kahne e Aric Almirola também estão próximos do top-16, mas, até aqui, fora dos playoffs.
 
A próxima etapa da Nascar acontece neste domingo em Richmond, um dia depois da corrida da Xfinity.
